I want to start a Nice Device cover band*.

The Nice Device are releasing a new EP on October 17th at the Magic Bag. I really should hate on this band, because a) I tried out for them twice, and b) Alicia kicks more ass than I will ever kick. But I can't.

Plus, the release show features Millions of Brazilians** and Friendly Foes.

It's only $8, plus you get a freeeee copy of the EP! Whoa! I like how bands have been doing this. Especially good bands (The Silent Years, FF, ND).

Doors at 8:30pm.

I would review the EP, but I have not gotten it yet. But I can assume if Jeff Milo writes a review, it will be a lot like his but with about 1/8 as many words. Or Webvomit will wait until we all write a review and than rip on us for writing about the same thing all the time. Or maybe Fivethreedialtone will write about how hot Alicia is. Dude, I'll write about how hot Alicia is.

*We'll be called The Mean Machines
**almost the best band name ever.

predictable comment, sir.

As I stepped over what looked to be ancient confetti a chill breeze burned my face and I slowly realized that everything I had been doing for the past ten years was a lie. The room was now freezing. Where were the Friendly Foes, and how was I going to get out of this?

is that the same alicia that was in sister seed in the mid 90's?

the indigo girls sounding group?

It's ok, JR.

BM, always hilariously ridiculous.

I like how the two of you are so anti-everything. It's so hip of you.

I was in a speed metal band in the early 00's, Thomas. We did not sound like the Indigo Girls, but peoples' music tastes do change over time.

I would like to add that I still love speed metal, though. I just don't like playing it.

But Elle and the Fontblog we aren't anti you...........................................................................yet.

Awww, how sweet. We can pretend Internet fight though if it helps your case.

What ever plan you and JR are unleashing on this city, go for it. Stepping on toes seems to come natural to you both. Rip on all the big names, tear them to shreds, make fun of them. Show those hipsters who's the boss! If that's your prerogative, so be it. And if you step on my toes along the way, whatevs. I could care less. I think it's all very amusing. I am just going to sit back and enjoy the faux-destruction you wreak on the "masses." Hope you don't mind.

I admire your defiance, really, I do. But everyone is too fickle to give a shit about anything longer than a few months. I'm not just talking Detroit here, either.

My review of the weekend/shows should be on the Massacre site in an hour or so.

BM, my roommate is smoking hot. nice review.

i disagree with this:
"But everyone is too fickle to give a shit about anything longer than a few months."

because of:
The Muggs
Deastro
The Hard Lessons
The Nice Device
Electric 6
White Stripes
TAN!
The Hentchmen
The Dirtbombs/Gories
The Detroit Cobras
The Sights
SSM

Are these to be replaced by Friendly Foes, Mason Proper, Prussia, Jason Croff?

I hope not for the sake of good music. Some of those bands are good, some are downright awful. I have a communistic approach towards the politics of music. Unfortunately, ultimate equality is not a strong, forthright idea in Detroit/America. So what is my recourse?....bitching?.....creating new? I intelligently and with much consideration chose the combination. My opinion is god.

Oh, and your roommate is smokin' hot (emphasis).

Your communistic approach to the politics of music sounds awful. It's like saying we should treat all colors like they are the same color, and there has to be the same amount of people who like the color purple as the amount of people who like seafoam green. I love seafoam green and purple. I like seafoam green more though, so if there was a choice one night to stand in a seafoam green room as opposed to a purple room, i would go into the seafoam green room. Did that make any sense? Should it make any sense? What are we talking about again?

When it comes down to it, it doesn't matter what I say because my roommate is totally hot.

Furthermore, would there be any band in the Detroit area that I could talk about that you wouldn't get your panties in a wad over? I mean, besides your band.

The Jesus Chainsaw Massacre said...

There are plenty (myspace.com/checkersrecordscollective). I think you misinterpreted the "communist" statement. More of a commentary that there doesn't need to be this self-imposed heirarchy between bands that are hardly on the cusp of actual notability. It is more of an idea of equality in unity than an everyone sucks defeatist equality. let's make it better and not fuck each other over in the process. until that day, ill remain in my tower.

The Queen of the Blogosphere and Pizza said...

I think you are right, I did misinterpret your communist statement.

In fact, now I completely agree with it. I dislike the hierarchal bullshit that run rampant in this town. But it happens everywhere. We are humans, we depend on that heirarchy, or at least, that is my humble opinion. People are always going to think they are more deserving than others of wealth, fame, etc. I would like to see that change, but like yourself, I will remain sitting on my high horse and thinking that my opinion matters more than anyone elses'.

agreed
